FOUR MONTHS AFTER BURGLARY AT HOME: WHAT HAS CHANGED IN MY LIFE AND HOW I COPE WITH THE EMOTIONAL SCARS OF THIS TERRIBLE EVENT

Saturday, 26 of March— the sun snuck in gently through the blinds in the bedroom. Warm light grazed my face and I woke up full of positive energy, knowing that I will have a great day by starting it with a matcha latte and Pilates. Afterwards, I met my friends to visit the international art fair, SPARK.

Everything has changed that day, and the moment I arrived home. The first moments of shock, seeing the apartment’s door open, the huge chaos in the living-room, bedroom— all cupboards and the whole wardrobe open.

I didn’t know how to react, and what to do in the first second. When I realized that my home was broken into, the first thing I looked for— if my notebook was stolen? I couldn’t find it, I started to shake— my heart beat faster, and I had shortness of breath.

ONE MONTH OF SELF-QUARANTINE

On the morning of the tenth day of my self-isolation I called my mother and said, “I’m terrified.”

“About what?” she asked.

I said, “Everything!”

She said, “Remember twenty years ago when we were isolated at home during the war in Kosovo? You said you were terrified and wished to be somewhere else. Now you live somewhere else, but the entire world is facing the same situation. Be patient, we will overcome this as well!”

1/365

Today is the first blank page of a 365-pages book, and I am starting it with a big recap. It is a nice way to look back on the past year – not of the pain I felt, but the strength I gained, all the experiences, the growth, achievements, reminiscing beautiful moments, places I went, people I met, acknowledge the difficulties, challenges, struggles, appreciate how far I’ve come and understand how they have helped me to grow the strength and wisdom that brought throughout this journey. You can also take a minute to write down everything, and you will realize where you have come.

FEW THINGS I WISH I KNEW BEFORE STARTING MY BLOG

Lately I have been thinking to write more personal articles and especially to answer the frequent questions I get about blogging. As you may know, I started blogging in September 2010. Seven years back, when websites were the main platforms where bloggers shared their outfits, beauty, travel, lifestyle posts and everything seemed much easier. We didn’t had Instagram or Snapchat, so our subscribers were the real followers we had.

Now that this week almost ended, I will take little time to describe my first March day. As you already know, on 1st of March the Madonna Blogger Awards 2016 took place at Semperdepot. The hostess of the gala evening was the Madonna editor Jenny Fellner and celebrated the night amongst all digital stars and online influencers. A number of national and international guests graced the event, such as the Youtube star Sami Slimani, blogger and street-style photographer Yvan Rodic from Face Hunter, presenter Jan Koeppen and many more.
