PHOTO DIARY: RETHYMNO, CRETE

If you visit the Greek island, Crete– a day trip to Rethymno (or Rethymnon) is a must. It’s one of the best preserved medieval towns in Greece and was once a bastion of the Venetians who left a mighty legacy– the large Fortezza (fortress).

The town was also ruled by Turks for a time so you’ll find a scattering of Ottoman mosques, a Hamam peeping from behind 16th century buildings.

You can choose visiting Rethymno for a relax day on the nearby beaches, or explore the historic center and enjoy the hidden cafes in cute cobblestone streets.

FASHION MEMO: WHAT TO PACK FOR CRETE IN FALL?

The largest island of Greece, Crete is every bit as wonderful as you would imagine. This is the first time I am visiting Crete in an unusual month of October, so it was a big challenge for me to know what to pack for 10-days island trip in fall?

The weather in Crete in October can be unpredictable. There may be warm days and cool nights, plus some rainy and windy days here and there. For fall, make sure you bring some warmer clothes that can be worn in layers. Some long-sleeved sweaters and shirts or other light wind-jacket would generally be enough.

In October definitely pack your swimsuit. You might get some lovely, sunny days, and the sea is still warm after a long summer. In terms of shoes, I personally suggest comfortable sneakers or even hiking shoes.

A TRAVEL GUIDE TO CRETE, GREECE

Crete is an island full of surprises. From cliffs, to white sand beaches, volcanic mountains to palm beaches— if you are looking for a laid-back island in Europe, where you can enjoy the nature and authentic towns of the Greek island— you’ll lose yourself, where time seems to stand still.

The south coast of Crete is less filled with tourism than the northern part of the island. A visit to villages is where you can sense an older, truer, more timeless Crete.

First of all, I want to say sorry for taking so long to post a new article on my blog, but I guess I needed a little break after a very busy month and editing tons of photos. However, I am very happy to have a lot to share and this is going to be my last photography diary from Mykonos. I hope I will get to visit this stunning island again and again.

WHAT TO DO IN MYKONOS FOR THREE DAYS?

In the center of the island is where you find the nightlife. The island provides a super positive vibe, when the international crowd gathers together in the night. In old town you can find lots of great restaurants, high-end shopping and trendy-cool bars. My very first visit to Mykonos was a great fun and getting lost in the twisting-turning alleyways was fun too.
