ERNST FUCHS MUSEUM: A HIDDEN GEM IN VIENNA YOU MUST SEE

April 24, 2022

Vienna is a powerhouse of art filled with museums and exhibitions. Since numerous museums are located just in the heart of Vienna’s first district, we often forget about the extraordinary places that are located in other districts, such as  in the Vienna’s 14th district.

Between 1886 and 1888, the famous Jugenstil (art nouveau) architect Otto Wagner built the opulent summer villa surrounded by nature for himself and his family. This outstanding villa is located in Hütteldorf on the border of the historical “Wiener Wald”, which today is open to the public as a museum.

CASA DEL ALABADO: MUSEUM OF PRE-COLUMBIAN ART

December 21, 2021

Monolith – Culture Valdivia 4000 B.C. – 1500 B.C.

A visit to Casa del Alabado Museum of Pre-Columbian Art, is a must for history and anthropology fans. Located in a wonderfully preserve building, this museum features sculpture, artefacts, jewellery pieces and more. I learned about Ecuador’s indigenous cultures and saw hundreds of archaeological objects belonging to the ancient societies that occupied the territory known today as Ecuador.

Scroll down for the virtual exhibition of one of my favorite pieces of Casa del Alabado Museum of Pre-Columbian Art:

MUSÉE RODIN IN PARIS

December 8, 2019

As you may have seen on my Instagram stories, last week I was in Paris with Julia for few days and we finally got the change to visit Musée Rodin.

Certainly museums such as the Louvre or the Musée d’Orsay are among the largest and most impressive museums in Paris. They are listed in every top 10 list of Parisian museums, but smaller Parisian museums deserve attention too, just like the impressive Rodin Museum.

WMW

March 5, 2018

What makes us want to travel and explore the world? Of course, the cultural differences we encounter. Being able to understand the humans from their cultural standpoint of where they come from and what they believe, as well as where those beliefs come from. Therefore I want to talk about the World Museum or Weltmuseum Wien (former Museum of Ethnology) in Vienna, which is the largest anthropological museum in Austria build in 1876. Located in the Hofburg Imperial Palace, WMW has a comprehensive ethnographical and archaeological objects from Asia, Africa, Oceania, and America. Since November 2014 the museum was closed due to renovation and was reopened on the 25th of October 2017.

Ethnological museums are witnesses to the cultural diversity and changes of our human societies. – WMW

Today, I am taking you inside the Museum of fine Arts in Vienna, which is one of the most important European museum buildings opened in 1891. The magnificent architecture creates a fitting setting for the artistic treasures assembled by the Habsburgs, amongst the most breathtaking in the world. The collections range from Ancient Egyptian and Greek and Roman Antiquities to Medieval Art and the splendid Renaissance and Baroque. So the museum is divided into eight different collections, some of which are housed in the Hofburg and in Schönbrunn Palace.
