DC PRESS EVENT: Shiseido 140th Anniversary Press Event in Vienna

Yesterday, it was a very special day! Shiseido celebated its 140th anniversary, in a very sophisticated location - Le Palais Sans Sourci in Vienna, with an intimate party for trade friends and the beauty media. The invited guests were greeted by cool drinks, delicious sushi and sea food. During the press event, I loved to see the inspiring images and the video (see it below), where I got to learn about the "history of innovations", that Shiseido's forefathers have carried on since the founding of the company, and how they shared the spirit that we must pass on to the future.

Shiseido is also launching several anniversary products, shown in the photos above. There's the Eudermine Revitalizing Essence, packaged as it originally was in the 19th century (it was the first cosmetic product the brand ever produced!); a sneak peek of the delicious fragrance Zen Secret Bloom, Shiseido Lacquer Rouge, and Radiant Lifting Foundation, to follow in September 2012. I completely felt in love with these new products. Thanks to Shiseido for the generious goodie-bag, and making me own all these fascinating products.
In addition to scoring limited-edition anniversary products, you can also get in on the celebration on Facebook and Pinterest. You'll get a peek at some of the brand's heritage and products in their original packaging, and you can also take part in the Wishing Tree - Shiseido will plant a Cherry Blossom tree for every 140 wishes! To celebrate, we're taking a look back at some of Shiseido's most memorable milestones. For every 140 wishes, Shiseido will plant a cherry-blossom tree somewhere in N.Y.C., in collaboration with the New York Restoration Project, helping to make our world just a little bit more beautiful.
The initiative is inspired by the three pillars upon which Shiseido is founded:
Omotenashi—the spirit of giving; Richness—wealth of mind, compassion, and spirit; and Human Science—Eastern philosophy and Western medicine.

Limited Edition bottles auf Eudermine in its original packaging have been released in celebration of the brand’s 140th anniversary.
Back to the History in 1897: Shiseido debuted its first-ever beauty product, Eudermine Revitalizing Essence. The name was derived from Lation for “good skin.” The hydrating fluid was created by Dr. Nagayoshi Nagai to immediately hydrate skin, but to also help in retain moisture over time. The cult product’s packaging has been updated over the years, but it still remains a brand staple.

A sneak peek of the delicious fragrance Zen Secret Bloom, to follow in September.

Shiseido Lacquer Rouge inspired by Japanese lacquer artistry. Japan’s traditional lacquerware handicrafts began making their way around the globe during the Age of Discovery. Their craftsmanship was highly valued particularly in Europe. To develop a truly lacquer-like lipstick, Shiseido examined the traditional processes used in laquer artistry. Just as these techniques allow lacquer to add smoothness, color and shine to wood, they’ve developed processes that allow a liquid formulation to do the same for lips. The result is completely modern rouge that gives lips an exquisitely sensual, lacquer-like finish in just one coat. Lip surface becomes even and benefits from skincare effects that improved rough lips, moisturizing effect lasts for hours. Deep color comes out beautifully and lips are finished with rich, polished shine. Shiseido Lacquer Rouge collection is about the simplicity of a lip gloss married to the intensity of lipstick with deep pigment and rich color payoff, long lasting shine and gloss that creates “a speedy glamour.

This coming autumn Shiseido will be launching their Radiant Lifting Foundation. Using optical science to manipulate light, Shiseido's Radiant Lifting Technology illuminates shadows away, bathing your skin radiant, youthful glow. Shiseido's newly-developed Radiant Reflective Complex by applying the light-bouncing effect of a reflector board just like during photography, shadows immediately disappear, the skin look firmer & fuller as if it has been lifted and radiance. This foundation glides on lightly and smoothly during application without feeling heavy on skin and makes conspicuous pores less visible and giving a resilient feeling to the skin.
