Pure white walls and gorgeous barrel ceiling show off their great classic architecture, while black and white elements add contemporary drama. The graphic rug is simply stunning, as are the delicate contemporary floor lamps.
We don't often see rich black carpet on living room floors, but this bold design move works well here. A floor to ceiling gallery wall of black and white photographs is configured in a casual frame to frame arrangement. The most eye-catching design detail is definitely the intricate pattern created by nailhead trim on the sofa.
An all-white bedroom and adjoining sitting room get a few touches of black in the twin fireplaces and color-blocked decorative pillows.
This bedroom in designer Donna Karan's Manhattan apartment is simply beautiful in mostly black and white. As seen here in the bedroom, her entire home is filled with appealing photography.
This lovely white kitchen goes dramatic with black subway tile grouted in white. Countertops are done in both black and dark butcher block. I wish we could see more of the white glass pendant light just visible at the top of the image.
